After a meeting of the Park Board Planning and Environmental Committee on Nov 12, 2009, there remains a thread of hope for public indoor tennis, possibly associated with one of three planned community centre renewals. (see
Updates for meeting details). The community centres are Hastings, Marpole Oakridge, and Dunbar. For public indoor tennis to have a chance, one or more of the community associations for these centres must ask Park Board to have examination of feasibility for indoor tennis included in the feasibility study already budgeted for the upgrade of each facility. In other words, we need local support at the community centre. A community association is a group of volunteers who provide direction to Park Board on the running of their community centre. Anyone who participates in any community centre program is a community centre member, and may participate in the community association. We need supporters of public indoor tennis to help inform the community associations involved here, of the value of, and need for, a public indoor tennis facility in Vancouver.
