Parks Board Commits to Explore

Public Indoor Tennis!

On July 14th, 2008, Peter Jackson and other members of the Vancouver Indoor Public Tennis Project (VIPTP) Steering Group met with the elected Parks Board Commissioners in the official Committee of the Whole, Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation.

The Steering Group made a presentation on the concept of a six or eight court indoor tennis facility to be located in an accessible central Vancouver location.  The concept was for the facility to be both built and operated by the Parks Board, in a similar manner as they operate pools, arenas and golf courses.

The Commissioners were unanimous in their support!  They formally asked Parks Board staff to work with the VIPTP Steering Committee, and report back in 2009!

THAT Park Board staff work with this group to develop a Feasibility Study and report back to the Board in the spring of 2009.

Moved by Commissioner Robertson,- Carried Unanimously.
